The Orangeville Junior Bengals are done for the season after losing both games of a second-round best-of-three series with the Creemore Padres.
The Bengals had a good year finishing the regular season with a 9-9 record before heading into the playoffs.
In the first round, they were up against the Mansfield Cubs. They blanked Mansfield 9-0 in the opening game of that series on the Bengals’ home diamond at Princess of Wales Park.
Mansfield kept the series alive with a 6-5 win in game two on July 24.
The Bengals advanced to the second round with a 6-4 win in game three on July 25 in Orangeville.
In the second round, the Bengals were up against the Creemore Padres.
Game one on July 30 ended with a 12-2 Creemore win.
Game two was in Creemore on July 31. That game resulted in an 11-5 loss for the Bengals, meaning their season was over.
The North Dufferin Baseball League Junior Division championship will pit the Orillia Royals against the Creemore Padres.
This should be a good final series. The Royals finished the regular season in first place with a 16-2 record.
The Padres were the number two team with a 10-7 record for the year.
The championship series was supposed to start on Thursday, August 3, but game one of the match was postponed when thunderstorms rolled into the area and dropped enough rain to make the diamond unplayable.
If the series goes the distance, the final game is scheduled for August 20 in Creemore.
