Cruisin’ on First weekly car show waiting for green light from the province

The Wednesday night auto enthusiasts who cruise to the parking lot at the Orangeville Canadian Tire store  during the summer months to show off their rides, will have to stick to the streets for the time being.

The popular show features a weekly car gathering as well as theme nights through the summer.

Corvette night, Mopar night, topless night, and Mustang nights are popular themes when car owners who own that particular model are invited to bring out their vehicles to showcase their vintage and classic autos.

Starting at 6:00 p.m., the weekly event brings car enthusiasts from all over the region. Some travel quite a distance to meet other car owners and talk to visitors.

Some drivers will attend from various destinations around Ontario to participate in different weekly shows. Many towns around the province have weekly car shows.

The show usually gets underway in May, however, this year it will be delayed as organizers wait for the green light when it comes to bringing crowds together, even in an outdoor situation.

“Unfortunately until Ontario lifts guidelines on gatherings for more than five people, it cannot happen anytime soon,” said organizer David Murphy who has been running the weekly car show for the past several years.

The car show joins a long list of summer events that have been either postponed or cancelled.

For the time being, classic and vintage car owners will have to stick to cruising the streets and highways.

Once the ban on gatherings of large groups of people has been lifted, car enthusiast should be able to get in at least a few late summer night of talking cars and horsepower.
