Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have laid multiple charges as a result of a traffic stop in the Town of Mono.
On May 23, 2023, at approximately 12:50 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers while conducting speed enforcement stopped a driver traveling at a high rate of speed on Airport Road in Mono. The officers were led into a criminal investigation which resulted in multiple criminal charges including drug offences.
Kevon REID, 22-year-old, from Toronto, has been charged with:
• Possession of Schedule I substance – Cocaine – Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
• Possession of Schedule I substance – Opioid – Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
• Fail to comply with release order – Criminal Code – (Two counts)
• Stunt Driving – Highway Traffic Act
As a result of the investigation, cocaine and fentanyl were seized.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a future date in June 2023, to answer to the charges. These charges have not been proven in court.
Dufferin OPP also laid multiple charges, including drug trafficking and unauthorized possession of a weapon, following another recent traffic stop.
A Dufferin OPP officer conducted a speed enforcement stop on Fourth Ave in Orangeville on Monday, May 29 at roughly 1:10 a.m. and was led into a criminal investigation.
The criminal investigation resulted in multiple criminal charges for Peter Francis-Simms, 30, of Mississauga, has been charged with:
• Driving while under suspension – while suspended under HTA
• Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid
• Possession of Schedule IV substance for the purpose of Trafficking
• Unauthorized possession of weapon – (two counts)
• Failure to comply with release order (two counts)
• Failure to comply with prohibition order
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a future date in June 2023, to answer to the charges. These charges have not been proven in court.
