Raw meat found on trail
Orangeville Police have advised residents to be vigilant for raw meat while walking dogs on a local walking trail.
On Tuesday, a resident contacted the Town of Orangeville Parks and Recreation Department to report that her dog had come into contact with what appeared to be raw meat while on a walking trail. The resident advised that this was the third such incident since the spring of this year.
The dog was attracted to the raw meat and ate a portion of it, becoming ill a short time after and was taken to a local veterinarian. The veterinarian was of the opinion that the illness was caused by the dog eating the meat.
On all three occasions the resident was walking her dog on the trail near Appleton Road and Hunter Road, at the Mill Creek Park entrance.
Police are advising residents to keep watch over their dogs while on the walking trail to prevent further health issues.
Anyone having information as to who might be responsible for placing the raw meat in the area is asked to contact the Orangeville Police Service at 519-941-2522.
