Orangeville’s Deputy Clerk, Carolina Khan is moving up the ladder.
With current Town Clerk Karen Landry set to retire later this year, Khan was appointed as Town Clerk, effective June 1, with a five-month transition period.
Mayor Sandy Brown offered his congratulations to Khan when a report came forward regarding her appointment during Orangeville Council’s May 16 meeting.
“Carolina Khan has been part of our team now for over two years. She’s been a delight to work with and I know under the guidance of our Clerk Karen Landry, she is continuing to carry on the strong tradition of town clerks in the Town of Orangeville,” he said.
Landry also offered some words of encouragement, and a resounding endorsement.
“Carolina will continue to build on the successes that we’ve had and we’ll move it well into the future. She’s just an exceptional leader and you are going to be in just – I’m going to say it – better hands,” she noted.
Mayor Sandy Brown responded that he isn’t sure about the better hands part as Landry has done a wonderful job since he became mayor.
The motion to receive a report regarding the appointment of Khan was passed 7-0.
