The Orangeville Junior Bengals still have a chance to move up a notch in the North Dufferin Baseball League Junior Division before the end of the regular season.

Orangeville was in the number six spot in the eight team division heading into the weekend.

They played a double header against the Midland Twins on Sunday, July 3, in Midland.

The Bengals came out on top in both games, winning the first game by a single run with an 11-10 final, and delivering a solid 12-2 win in the second game of the day.

The wins place the Bengals in fourth place, ahead of Midland and Georgina and dropping the Twins down a spot in the standings.

Orangeville now has a 6-5-1 record and 13 points.

In the Junior division there has been a lot of tight games this year. The Bengals have scored 115 runs this year while allowing 94 runs scored against them.

Once the playoffs get underway, there’s a real chance that a couple of lower ranked teams could pull off an upset in the opening round.

Overall, it has been a good regular season of baseball with some exciting games and a lot of talent on baseball diamonds around the region.

The Orillia Royals are in first place in the division followed by the Caledon Nationals and the Mansfield Cubs.

The Georgina Bulldogs are in the number four spot.

Going into the playoffs, all eight teams in the division will make the cut this season and battle it out for the right to advance.

The Bengals have two games left on the regular season schedule.

On Thursday, July 14, they will face the Orillia Royals in Orillia.

Their final regular season game will have them up against the Georgina Bulldogs, on Georgina’s home diamond.
