Trillium Ford Shelburne held a Drive 4 UR Community even on Saturday, August 29, at Greenwood Park in Shelburne benefitting the Shelburne Soccer Club.
The fundraiser, sponsored by Ford Canada, was an opportunity for Shelburne residents to test drive on of eight new Trillium Ford vehicles ranging from an F-250 diesel truck to a five-door Focus, while earning $20 for the Club with every free test drive taken.
Now in its sixth year, the Drive 4 UR Community program has become popular with not-for-profit groups, including sports associations and service clubs due to the fun nature of the event.
On Saturday, 37 people attended the Drive 4 UR event, held in conjunction with the Club’s annual tournament day, raising $740 for Shelburne Soccer.
These funds will be used to offset registration fees during the 2017 season.
Recognizing the importance of giving back, Ford Canada will pay the organization up to $6000, if the maximum number of test drives (300) are completed.
“We are very happy to take part in community initiatives that make it easier for local children register for sports,” said Wendy Gabrek, Marketing Coordinator for Trillium Ford. “The Drive 4 UR events are a nice way for us to give back the community that supports us and the no-pressure sales atmosphere allows us to meet with the community and talk about our amazing vehicle line-up outside of the dealership hours.”
Trillium Ford Shelburne representatives volunteer their time to host the Drive events, and the dealership pays to license, insure and fuel the vehicles being used.
Shelburne Soccer will receive a cheque for their event proceeds within the coming weeks.
