Orangeville resident charged with stunt driving

On Sunday (Jan. 24) officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two drivers for excessive speed/stunt driving while they we

re conducting speed enforcement along Highway 10 in the Town of Caledon.

At approximately 2:17 p.m., on Highway 410 and Hurontario Street, a 28-year-old from Orangeville was stopped for going 154 km/hr in in an 80 km/hr zone.

As well, at approximately 1:10 a.m., on Highway 10 near Charleston Side Road, a 24-year-old from Mississauga was stopped for going 108 km/hr in a 50km/hr zone.

Both drivers were charged with Stunt Driving and received an immediate seven-day vehicle impound and driver’s license suspension. They are scheduled to appear! in Caledon East Provincial Court to answer to the charges.

Stunt Driving/excessive speed is a charge for drivers travelling at a rate of 50km/hr or over greater than the posted speed limit.

The OPP would like to remind the public that winter driving conditions are a factor in many collisions. Slow down, especially when driving on snow or ice.
