AS YOU’LL SEE elsewhere in this issue, the Town of Orangeville has issued a reminder that parking is permitted on paved residential boulevards, including the paved portion of a residential driveway. We suspect the reminder was triggered by the fact that nearly 300 cars were ticketed last month for parking overnight on streets.
But while undoubtedly some of those vehicles could have been parked on driveways, we suspect that the owners of most of them had nowhere else to park.
We wonder whether, during the winter months, either the Town or Dufferin County might permit overnight parking at places like the Edelbrock Centre or one of the downtown parking lots, so long as the vehicles are removed in the morning to permit snow removal.
Any costs to the municipalities might be offset by requiring such vehicles to have special $25(?) permits.
