The Santa Claus Parade was run by the Town of Orangeville this year and it looks like that trend will continue following its success.

The local Kin Club notified the town that they would be unable to hold the signature holiday event this year due to a lack of resources and dwindling club membership. So council voted to have the town take over this year as a pilot project at an Aug. 8 meeting.

Coun. Joe Andrews noted the pilot’s success and asked town staff it would be kept going.

Orangeville CAO Ray Osmond shared that the parade was fantastic and the feedback received from all the stakeholders involved is they’d like to do it again.

The Kin Club of Orangeville and local BIA are happy to help make the event successful next year, according to Osmond.

“So I think you’re going to see it grow from there… and my understanding is that will continue into the future,” he said.

For the Town of Orangeville to hold the parade this year, $15,000 was budgeted.
