Members of Toms Martial Arts competed at the Crispin Super Shiaithis martial arts tournament held in Georgetown on May 28-29.
Forty-seven members from the school took took part.
The event hosted martial arts schools from all disciplines from across Ontario.
Sensei Michael Toms, head Instructor at Toms Martial Arts comments, “The whole purpose of competing at tournaments is to develop and improve on one’s own ability. While tournaments aren’t for everyone, I encourage our students who have the desire to test their skills against other martial artists so they can know what they should work on in the dojo to improve in their own training. It was amazing to see our little guys in particular. We had nine of our Tykes competing in the six years-old and under division.”
In addition to the many first place finishes students earned, Toms Martial Arts also brought home eight of the Grand Championship awards where the first place competitors go head to head for the top prize. “My students represented our school with honor, and they made me very proud. It’s so great to see some of these kids who were once so shy to come out of their shells and show the level of confidence that they did,” said Toms.
