Police remind residents to lock it or lose it

July 21, 2016   ·   0 Comments

The Orangeville Police Service is reminding residents to lock vehicles when not in use to avoid being a victim of theft.

In the past two weeks, police have responded to several thefts from vehicles throughout the community. In all cases, the vehicles were left unlocked by the owner with valuables such as wallets, cash and electronic devices in plain view. On Friday, July 15, 2016, a Church street resident reported that a laptop computer had been stolen sometime overnight.

“These crimes of opportunity are avoidable by simply removing valuables and locking the doors when not in use” explained Public and Media Relations Officer Constable Scott Davis.

Anyone having information with regards to these incidents is encouraged to call the Orangeville Police Service at 519-941-2522 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestopperssdm.com.
