Orangeville Council took a moment to recognize all of the new businesses in Town during last Monday’s (May 31) Council meeting.

A report to Council with the list of new businesses established locally between Feb. 1 and April 30, totals 15.

“I want to congratulate those who have elected to invest in business start-ups in our communities, especially during the pandemic and I’m thrilled to see the numbers that are growing and the diversity of the businesses that also are represented in this report,” said Coun. Joe Andrews.

The businesses include:

  • Recess Play (150 First Street)
  • Hempire House (59 First Street)
  • Broadway Cannabis (71 Broadway)
  • Paramount Cannabis Company (520 Riddell Road Unit G-C)
  • M & J’s African Grocery (121 First Street, Unit 2B)
  • J’s DIY (85 Broadway, Unit 2)
  • Chariots of Simcoe (324 Broadway)
  • Chafford 200 Medical Centre (195 Broadway)
  • Georgian Shores Catering (280 Broadway, Unit 1)
  • The Wellness Lab (295A Broadway)
  • Broadway Gold Exchange (68 Broadway)
  • Daal Roti Express (75 First Street, Unit 11)

In addition, there are two home-based businesses that registered within the Town of Orangeville during the Feb. 1 to April 30 period.

It’s important to note, Town staff are partially limited in their lists of new businesses as registrations that are completed online cannot be accessed unless they were under the Economic Development/SBEC Resource Centre.

As well, sole proprietors strictly operating under their own legal names are not required to register their businesses and a large number of home-based proprietorships are established each year.
