With spooky season in full swing, the results of the Orangeville Hallowe’en Haunt Patrol’s annual decorating contest are in.
Judging took place across Orangeville on Oct. 24, with homeowners competing to have the best decorated house in town.
In the end, judges scored 170-172 Lisa Marie Drive as the first-place winner.
The winning home features a Butcher Chop Shop theme, made almost entirely out of handmade props.
The display had no animatronics but did feature live action entertainment, with the homeowner using human actors to add extra scares to those who stopped by.
“I heard the cars were lined up well beyond the curve of Lisa Marie Drive, waiting patiently for their turn to drive by and enjoy this must-do traditional experience,” said Orangeville Hallowe’en Haunt Patrol founder and organizer, Michelle Hartley.
She said the house has been a part of the contest since its first year in 2020 and never disappoints Hallowe’en enthusiasts.
Second place went to 136 Elaine Drive, which participated in the contest for the first time this year. Third place went to fellow newcomer, 26 Abbey Road.
“Both locations included an interactive backyard maze and garage experiences,” Hartley said. “I can’t even guess what 2027 will bring.”
For the President’s Pick, which Hartley decides, 16-year-old haunt creator Rogan at 270 Elderberry won.
In last year’s contest, 118 Church Street won first place, and 4-6 Henderson Street won the year before.
Orangeville Hallowe’en Haunt Patrol collected 274 pounds of food for the Orangeville Food Bank this year and hopes to gather 500 pounds next year.
On Oct. 31, the public is encouraged to vote on the Orangeville Hallowe’en Haunt Patrol Facebook page for the People’s Choice Award from 6 to 10 p.m.
