It’s still early in the season and the Orangeville District Secondary School Bears boys’ basketball teams are battling hard to work their way up in the District 10 standings.
Junior Division
The Bears junior boy’s team is currently in third place with a 3-2 record.
The team is doing well offensively, averaging 61 points per game in their first five times on the court.
They have scored 305 points while allowing 254 against.
After two losses to start the season, including a narrow two-point loss to Centennial Collegiate, the Bears juniors rebounded to win three in a row, averaging 72 points in those three games.
Bishop Macdonell Catholic High School in Guelph is currently in first place in the District 10 standings with ten points, going undefeated after five games.
Centennial Collegiate is in second place with a 4-1 record and eight points.
Guelph Collegiate is in the number four spot with six points, followed by John F. Ross in fifth place.
The Bears junior team will return to their home court at ODSS on Tuesday, Jan. 10, when they host Centennial Collegiate.
The game time is 4:00 p.m.
Senior Division
The ODSSBears senior boy’s basketball team is off to a slow start this year.
The team has won only one time after five games and is a little inconsistent when it comes to scoring.
Eight schools entered the District 10 competition this year, making for a competitive season.
John F. Ross is in first place, going undefeated after five games. They have also been averaging an impressive 75 points per game.
In second place, Centennial Collegiate has a 4-1 record and eight points. Our Lady of Lourdes is in the number three spot with a 4-1 record followed by Bishop Macdonell in fourth place, and Guelph Collegiate in fifth place.
The Bears have seven more games for the regular season schedule this year.
They will return to their home court at ODSS on Tuesday, Jan. 10, to host Centennial Collegiate.
