What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than a Christmas concert?

World-renowned tenor and Orangeville’s very own Mark Dubois and The Mark DuBois Studio Singers will be filling the air with Christmas music at Tweedsmuir Memorial Presbyterian Church, this Sunday, December 18, at 7:00 p.m. The Church’s Choir and Praise Team will also be singing Christmas carols.

Tickets are $15 per person, while children 12 and under are free, with the money going to Tweedsmuir, part of the Church’s fundraising and outreach to the community. Last year’s Christmas concert saw the Church sold out.

Mr. DuBois has been the Church’s organist and choirmaster for just over a year, this Christmas concert being his second at Tweedsmuir. He moved from Hockley right into town recently, being what he calls an official “Orangeviller”. He has had a tradition of organizing Christmas concerts for nearly 20 years, starting at Hockley United Church when he was the organist there.

He says there will be a mixture of songs performed, including traditional Christmas and religious Christmas music, some pop, gospel, choral, and children sing-alongs (though adults who are kids at heart can sing along also). “All things that are relevant to the theme really of Christmas, which Christmas is really love, hope and joy.”

Mr. Dubois says his Studio Singers are a very close group and this concert is a great way to be with everybody. “Singers always need a place to perform.”

He says the concert will certainly put anyone in the Christmas mood that isn’t. “It’s a family concert, it gets everybody together.” He says people need to slow down and understand what the Christmas spirit is about and the songs sung are about what Christmas is, from love, charity, peace and joy, and the birth of Jesus.

Tickets are available at Booklore, 519-942-3830, and the Tweedsmuir Church Office, 519-941-1334.
