One Mono resident is calling on Council to bring additional tennis facilities to the community.

A resident near Purple Park, Mr. Andrew Stephenson requested Council build tennis courts in the park. It was noted that currently courts exist or are being built at Island Lake Park, Mono College Park and Mono Centre.

At present, a double tennis court costs $250,000 to build and Coun. Ralph Manktelow suggested the Town wait and see how these courts work out before building more. Coun. Fred Nix supported the idea, but felt parking would be a problem.

There has also been a request that a multi purpose pad be installed in Purple Park.

Deputy Clerk Fred Simpson was asked to respond to Mr. Stephenson with Council’s thoughts, essentially stating that any plans to construct tennis facilities at Purple Park would be on hold pending the usage of existing facilities within the community.
