With Old Man Winter now hopefully on his last legs, one local organization is keen to remind us that spring is indeed here and that the warmth of summer is just around the corner.
For the past two decades, the Orangeville Lions Club has had the honour of unofficially kicking off spring in the region and this year is no different as association members prepare to host the club’s 21st Home and Garden Show.
Located at the Orangeville Fairgrounds on Mono’s 5 Sideroad, the indoor spectacle will be “bigger and better than ever before,” says Lions Club member Frank Gray – with 220 booths supported by more than 150 vendors featured over the course of the weekend.
“This year’s show is going to be a big one,” Mr. Gray said. “There has been a lot of work and a lot of effort put in by various Lions Club members over the past few months to make sure this year’s event doesn’t disappoint.”
Showcasing everything and anything to do with home improvement, the 2017 Show will put the spotlight on numerous local businesses and organizations that specialize in such things as renovations, gardening, landscaping, heating and air conditioning, window and door replacement and swimming pools and hot tubs. With information booths highlighting other local services and artisans, including real estate agents, painters, craftsmen and much, much more, there will be something for everyone at this year’s event.
Serving as the Lions Club’s largest annual fundraiser, the Home and Garden Show enables to local organization to continue its tradition of supporting the community.
“All the money raised through this show goes right back into the community,” Mr. Gray said. “We run various community events and programs throughout the year, and the money we bring in with this show allows us to think outside the box and offer a wide range of things to the public.”
Admission and parking for the event is free, making it a great way to spend some time out with the family over the weekend. Refreshments will be available courtesy of the popular Orangeville Lions Food Booth.
“This is one of the premier annual events in Orangeville,” Mr. Gray said. “For those in the community that haven’t had a chance to experience everything the Home and Garden show has to offer, come and check us out this weekend. It’s sure to be a fun time for all involved.”
The 2017 Lions Home and Garden Show runs this Friday (March 31) from 5:30 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.orangevillelions.org.
