The battle for the West division championship of the Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League is down to one game after the Orangeville Junior C Northmen won game four of the best-of-five series with the Fergus Thistles in Orangeville on Monday, July 25.
The Northmen defeated the Wilmot Wild in three game to advance to the final against Fergus.
Game one of the final series got underway in Fergus on July 19.
The Northmen took a beating in the second period when Fergus scored six unanswered goals.
The Thistles took game one with a score of 11-3.
Game two of the series got underway at Tony Rose arena in Orangeville on Friday, July 22.
The game went into overtime to decide the winner and the Orangeville team came out on top with a 9-8 win.
Back in Orangeville for game three, the game was tied at nine at the end of the third and the teams went back out on the floor to battle it out in overtime.
The Thistles scored two overtime goals to win the game, 11-9.
Game four saw the teams hit the floor at Tony Rose arena on Monday, July 25.
The Thistles had a one goal lead going it the final period.
Fergus had a one goal lead going into the third period.
Orangeville tied it up, but the Thistles again went ahead by a single goal at the midway mark in the period.
The Northmen tied the game 22 seconds later, then got the go-ahead goal with 3:13 left on the clock for a 10-9 win.
The West Division championship will now come down to a final game when the teams meet to battle it out in game five of the series.
That game was scheduled for Wednesday, July 27, in Fergus with results not available at press time.
