The Orangeville Northmen and the Burlington Blaze are tied 2-2 in the Ontario Junior Lacrosse League championship final best-of-seven series after Burlington tied it up on their home floor on Tuesday, Aug. 8.

The quest for the Iroquois Trophy has been a wild series with some exciting games that fans are really enjoying. Arenas have been packed since the series started.

Game one of the series got underway on Aug. 2 at Tony Rose Arena. The Northmen were handed a 12-10 loss after falling behind in the second period and couldn’t make up a couple of goals to tie the game.

The Northmen got some payback in the second game on Aug. 4, when they travelled to Burlington to take on the Blaze on their home floor. The Orangeville team commanded the third period in that game, outscoring Burlington 5-1 to leave with a 10-6 win.

The Northmen took the lead in the series when they returned to Tony Rose Arena on Sunday, Aug. 6.

In front of a packed house of wildly cheering fans, the Northmen led all three periods to take a 12-11 win.

The teams were back in Burlington for game four of the series on Tuesday, Aug. 8.

Orangeville was trailing 3-2 at the end of the first period.

It was a tied game at the end of the second when the Northmen scored two while holding the Blaze to one goal for the period.

The teams returned for the third period to see which team could get the advantage.

The game was tied at five midway through the period.

Two back-to-back Burlington goals made all the difference. With 5:50 left on the clock, the Blaze scored to take a two-goal lead.

Orangeville came close with a late powerplay goal with 2:18 left on the clock, but that’s all they could do for the night, and they had to settle for an 8-7 loss.

The series will return to Orangeville and Tony Rose Arena today, Aug. 10, for game five.

Game time is 8:00 p.m.
