The Orangeville Junior B Northmen handed the Six Nations Rebels their first loss of the season Monday (May 8) night at the Alder Street arena.
The win keeps the Northmen at the top in the Mid West division of the League and also moves them into first place over all with a 7-1 record and 14 points.
Monday’s game got off to a quick start for the Northmen when they scored three early goals to take the lead. O-ville goals came from Tanner Buck, Cameron MacDonald, and Tyler Hill.
The Rebels got on the scoreboard at the 16:24 mark in the period.
Orangeville’s MacDonald got his second of the game with 1:21 left in the period to give the Northmen a 4-1 lead going into the second period.
The Northmen blew the game wide open in the second frame with four unanswered goals from Malcolm Young, Nikolai Farrus, and a pair from Mike Sutton.
The Rebels scored the only goals of the final period but the effort was too late and the Northmen left the floor with an 8-3 win – their seventh game of the season on the plus side.
The Northmen will return to the Alder Street arena on Monday, May 15, to host the Elora Mohawks. Game time is 8:00 pm.
