The Orangeville Junior B Northmen are leading the West Division of the OJBLL with a 10-2 record and 20 points.
Over all the squad is two points behind the Six Nations Rebels who now are in first place in the League with an 11-1 record so far.
The Northmen travelled to Owen Sound on Thursday, May 18, to take on the North Stars.
The Northmen had a bad first period when the North Stars scored six unanswered goals to take a huge lead in the Thursday game.
They finally got on the scoreboard in the second period on a goal from Nik Farrus followed by a second O-ville goal from Jarett Petrie but at the end of the second frame they were trailing 9-2 with one period remaining.
The squad fought back in the third scoring twice but they had to settle for a 9-4 loss.
The Northmen were back in form the following night (May 19) when they went to Guelph to take on the Regals.
Opening with to unassisted goals from Grant Scott and Cameron Spenser early in the first period, Nik Farrus and Tanner Buck scored to make it a 4-0 game to end the frame.
The second period again ended with a shutout when the Northmen evened the first period total with four more goals from Craig Maizis, Tanner Buck, Shane Hillis, and Malcolm Young on a shorthanded effort.
The third period saw a repeat with four more Northmen goals to end the game 12-0.
Final period goals came from Malcolm Young, Tanner Buck, Grant Scott, and Tyler Halls.
The Junior B Northmen will return to the Alder Street arena in Orangeville on Sunday, June 4, when they will host the Niagara Thunderhawks.
Game time is 4:00 p.m.
