Despite being outshot 48-24 in Saturday (Nov. 26) night’s game against the Toronto Patriots, the Orangeville Junior A Flyers came off the ice with a 3-1 win.
Flyers goalie Ruan Badenhorst made 47 saves for the night.
Toronto opened the scoring early in the night with their only goal of the game at 2:06 into the first period.
From there the Flyers took over – scoring all their goals on powerplays.
Nathan Gooch got the Flyers opener tipping in the puck on a pass from Nick Stuckless.
Ryan Barbaros followed up with another powerplay opportunity scoring at the midway mark in the frame to get the go ahead goal.
The Flyers defence manage to shut down the Patriot attack for the entire third period with the only goal coming from O-ville’s Baily Molella early in the final period for the 3-1 Flyers win.
It was win number eight for the Flyers who now have a 8-17-1 record including one game lost in overtime – good for 18 points.
The Flyers will return to home ice at the Alder Street arena this Saturday, December 3, to host the Milton IceHawks.
Game time is 7:00 p.m.
