Downtown Orangeville is holding several Halloween-themed events this weekend and all month long.
Boo on Broadway is returning on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in conjunction with the Fang-tastic Farmers’ Market by the intersection of Broadway and Second St. at Alexandra Park.
Kids of all ages are encouraged to dress up and join in the fun for Downtown Orangeville’s final outdoor farmers’ market of the year.
Free spooky face painting and a petting zoo are taking place at the same time from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., along with live kids’ entertainment.
Various vendors at the farmers’ market will be handing out candy.
Marketgoers can vote for their favourite market vendor costume, hunt for the spookiest market vendor stall, take part in the Witches Walk Scavenger Hunt, and cast their vote in the Great Pumpkin Pop-Up.
On Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon, Downtown Orangeville is holding Tiny Tots Trick or Treating, where little ones can show off their funny, spooky, sweet, and heroic costumes to participating businesses on and near Broadway to receive treats while supplies last.
Participating businesses will have a “Tiny Tots Treat Stop” sign displayed on their windows.
The Great Pumpkin Pop-Up, with this year’s Heroes and Villains theme, is running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Heroic pumpkins and villainous jack-o-lanterns designed by local Downtown Orangeville businesses will be displayed in the Town Hall Circle, in front of the Opera House.
Community members can fill out ballots to vote for their favourite pumpkin.
Voting opens at 10 a.m. on Oct. 21 and closes at 4 p.m.
One dollar for every vote will be donated to the Dufferin Men’s Shelter.
The Witches Walk Scavenger Hunt is running all month long. The event is for kids of all ages who will seek and find at least 10 wicked and whimsical witches in Orangeville’s downtown storefront windows. Participants can hand in their completed answer card for a chance to win one of 3 Downtown Orangeville Kids Prize Packs.
Each prize pack will have a $75 value.
Ballots are available online or can be picked up and dropped off at Moguls in Mocean and Sproule’s Emporium.
Also running all of October are the Eerie Alexandra Park display and Spooky Sidewalks. The team at Downtown Orangeville has added ghouls, goblins and skeletons to the park.
Downtown Orangeville encourages the public to participate in one or all of their Halloween-themed events this October for some fright and fun.
