Hydro ‘oversight’ costing customers up to $100

July 21, 2016   ·   0 Comments

Those who have already received their July hydro bill, you may have noticed a ‘magical’ overdue balance, despite being all paid up. If you are one of the ones who did see this balance, you’re not alone. Thanks to an oversight (otherwise translated as human error), an adjustment was missed in the beginning of 2016, and customers did not receive the correct charges for their water and sewage rates.

In a notice posted on its website Tuesday, Orangeville Hydro Limited has informed its customers that “due to  an oversight, the water and sewer rates were not updated to reflect 2016 rate adjustments as of January 1, 2016.

“The adjustment appears on the most recent bills and is included in the balance forward.  Orangeville Hydro will ensure that no overdue interest will be charged on this adjustment. Orangeville Hydro sincerely apologizes for this error.”

An accompanying chart outlined the number of customers affected by the water/sewer adjustments.

The chart showed that 7,192 customers will face paying less than $24.99, while 2,041 will have to pay an additional $50 to $99, and 107 will be hit by an extra $100 charge, based on usage.
