Hospice Dufferin will be hosting a Cancer/Breast Cancer Awareness event on Saturday, Mar. 25, with the hope of creating an inspiring, motivational afternoon of sharing stories and enjoying wellness programs that help to increase positivity, empowerment and overall well-being.
The event’s guest speaker, Kim MacDonald, is an award-winning weather personality with The Weather Network and was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2016. MacDonald will share her Breast Cancer journey with the theme “How to help yourself and others by sharing your story.”
“Sharing the story of my Breast Cancer experience helped lessen my burden but, more importantly, let others know they were not alone.” MacDonald said.
This event is open to anyone who has been touched by cancer, whether living with cancer, a survivor, friend or family member. It’s a day of fellowship and to come together and support Hospice Dufferin’s cancer community while listening to stories, experiencing meditation by Melanie Grime or partaking in a community breast cancer awareness piece facilitated by Tiffany McCabe.
“We want this event to be an afternoon of inspiration, where people can feel safe sharing their stories and participating in a community artwork reflecting on strength and healing for survivors, supporters and loved ones. Resource Development Communications Coordinator RaDeana Montgomery of Hospice Dufferin said.
Money raised from this event will be used to support Hospice Dufferin’s Wellness Programs for its clients, which is essential to encourage positivity. These programs include music therapy sessions, exercise, art therapy, journaling and meditation.
