High School B-ball returns after break

Orangeville high school basketball teams are having a good season with games starting up again next week when school is back in session.

District 10

Senior

In District 10 senior action, the Orangeville District  Secondary School Bears are in the number seven spot in the standings after coming up short in the first three games of the season.

The Bears got in the win column in game four with a 69-65 win over Our Lady of Lourdes on December 6.

They won their second game of the season on December 18, when they left the court with a 60-33 win over Bishop Macdonell.

The ODSS team has a 2-6 record so far but the numbers don’t tell the whole story. The Bears have been playing well and are looking better ever game.

The Bears will be back on home court on Tuesday, January 8, when the will host Guelph Collegiate.

Game time is 5:15 p.m.

Junior 

The Orangeville District Secondary School Junior boys team currently have a 4-4 record and are right in the middle of the District 10 junior standings. 

After loosing a couple of close games to start the season the team has been consistent on the court. 

They won their last two games before going off on Christmas break.

They finished the year with a 54-45 win over Bishop Macdonnel and a 55-43 win over ST. James.

The Bears will be back on their home court at ODSS on Tuesday, January 8, when they host Guelph Collegiate. 

Game time is 3:45 p.m.

District 4

The Westside Secondary School Thunder have one team entered in District 4 this year. 

The Westside junior team is currently in second place in the District 4 standings with a 4-1 record.

The Thunder started off the season with three wins that put them in a tie for first place in the standings. In a battle for top spot the Thunder lost out to Centre Dufferin District High School on December 10, and dropped into second place.

There are five games left on the regular season schedule when the teams return to play next week.

The Thunder will have three road games to start the new year.

They will back on their home court at Westside on Monday, February 4, when they will host Norwell District.

Game time is 2:30 p.m.
