Headwaters Health Care Foundation (HHCF) with Orangeville’s 101.5my FM, will be holding their second annual Radiothon, to continue stepping up their goal of raising donations for the hospital’s needs.

The radiothon will be on Wednesday, April 11th, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Tim Hortons at 46 Broadway. During those 12 hours, on-air personalities will be live to talk with patients, hospital staff, sponsors, and physicians on the important patient benefits to have up-to-date technology. All the money raised will go towards Headwaters Health Care Centre’s (HHCC) $2-million annual fundraising goal to purchase leading-edge medical equipment and technology.

“Every day we see the impact donations have on patients and their families,” says Kirk Brannon, chair of the HHCF. “We are a great hospital, but with the community’s help, we can be even better. The Radiothon offers an opportunity for the public to give back or honor a doctor, nurse or caregiver for the exceptional care they, a friend or family member, have received.”

Last year’s effort raised a total of $13,000, with this year’s goal now up to $20,000. Nicole Hand, HHCF’s annual giving manager, says when they first did the radiothon last year, they weren’t entirely sure where it would go, but now have a clearer picture, and hopes it will continue to grow. She told the Citizen they do this fundraising event in the spring as the hospitals’ fiscal year ends March 31. “It’s an opportunity for us to watch our special events, and our next year campaign.”

Ms. Hand described the event as a slice of “all that the foundation is involved in, and what the hospital does in the community.”

She said one of the things staff will discuss is some of the equipment recently bought. “It’s sort of coming back to the public, and letting them know exactly where the donations have gone, and the benefit to the patient.”

To make a donation, call 519-943-7210. On-line gifts will be accepted by visiting www.hhcfoundation.com, where a specific Radiothon donation page will be set-up to accept secure credit card donations.
