The Orangeville Giants Senior baseball club hosted a double header against the Alliston Athletics at Princess of Wales Park in Orangeville on Sunday (July 7) afternoon.
The first game saw the Athletics take an early lead to go ahead 3-2 a the top of the third inning.
The Giants had two fly balls to end the third inning.
It was the fourth that saw the O-ville squad get back in the game starting with a single then following up with a dinger from Nick Hodgson that put Orangeville men on first and second.
The bases were loaded on a walk leaving the Giants in good scoring position.
Orangeville took the lead on a hit past second base that brought in two runs.
Kevin Buck hit to shallow centre that brought in another Orangeville run.
The inning ended on a fly ball to shallow centre field.
No runs were record in the fifth inning.
The Giants made short work of the sixth inning when a base runner tried to steal second and was tagged out.
That was followed up by an Alliston hit to second base that resulted in a double play to end the inning.
The Giants took their last at-bat but were not able to score, setting things up for the final Alliston attempt to get some runs to upset the game.
After taking one out, the game ended with another short hit and a double play to end the game with a 6-4 Giants win.
After taking a break the teams returned to the diamond for the second game of the double header.
This time neither team could get ahead and the game ended with a 3-3 tie.
The Giants have moved up in the North Dufferin Baseball League standings and are now in the number six spot in the 14 team league. The New Lowell Knights are in first place.
The Giants will be back in action this Saturday, July 23, when the host the Barrie Angels.
