The Orangeville Giants senior NDBL team played a double header on Sunday, July 14, at Princess of Wales Park in Orangeville.

In the first outing of the day they hosted the Creemore Braves with a 1:00 p.m. start.

The Giants left the diamond with a 5 -4 win in that game.

A highlight of the game was Shayne Rauhut’s two run home run.

Returning for the second game of the afternoon the Giants hosted the Mansfield Cubs.

Mansfield managed to take an early lead bringing in two runs in the first inning.

The Cubs were getting on base in the first two innings but couldn’t finish and bring in any runs.

Orangeville had some good defensive moves. In the fourth the team made a double play from second to first to put out the first two players in the inning.

The Cubs started getting the bats moving late in the game and started piling up the runs.

The final was an 11 – 2 win for the Mansfield team.

After the weekend the Giants are in fifth place in the 14 team senior division of the North Dufferin Baseball League with a 13 – 7 record.

The New Lowell Knights maintain first place in the League with a 17 – 4 record. They are followed by the Clearview Orioles and the Ivy Leafs.

The Giants will have four road games before returning to their home park at Princess of Wales on July 28, when they will host the Barrie Angles and the Bolton Dodgers for another double head.

The action gets underway at 1:00 p.m.
