The 2016 Junior B Founders Championship Cup will take place in Orangeville this coming week getting underway on Monday, August 15, with the first games slated for Tuesday, August 16.
This will be the chance to see the best Junior B lacrosse teams in the country battle it out for the honour of claiming this year’s Championship Cup.
Competing teams include the host Orangeville Junior B Northmen, the Calgary Chill, Manitoba Blizzard, Saskatchewan Swat, Seneca War Chiefs, Team Nova Scotia, Coquitlam Adanacs, and the Green Gales out of Bowmanville, Ontario.
The host venue is the Alder Street. The first three days will feature round competition throughout the day with games scheduled for 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m.
The Northmen will play in the 8:00 p.m. slot on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
From there the competition really heats ups as the teams go into the quarter-final round on Friday, August 19, the semi-finals on Saturday, August 20, and the final on Sunday August 21.
The Junior B Northmen are fresh off their victory over the Green Gales on Monday, August 8, which won them the J.A. Macdonald Trophy as Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League Champions.
The Northmen will set their sights on continuing the year as champions and winning the Founders Cup to cap off a great season.
The last time the Northmen won the cup was in back to back years in 1989 and 1990.
