Even though their regular sport is still not allowed due to contact rules, the Orangeville Outlaws are hosting a flag football program for the summer.
The program was started last fall as a way to keep players engaged and active after the regular football season was cancelled in summer of 2020 due to the pandemic.
As summer got closer this year, it soon became obvious that the Ontario Provincial Football League would not be having a season as restrictions on contact made planning a season almost impossible.
The Outlaws executive realized there was again a lot of interest in flag football as players just wanted to get out there and have some fun.
After getting the word out that they were planning a flag season, they got a huge response from players who wanted to sign up.
The result was several teams in both the junior and senior divisions.
The teams play their games on the field at Orangeville Christian School.
