Orangeville residents could soon be able to enjoy an outdoor fire a little earlier in the day, following Coun. Lisa Post’s request to look at extending the time fires are currently allowed to burn within the Town.
She put forward a notice of motion for Council’s March 8 meeting, requesting to modify the Town’s bylaw from only permitting fires between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. to make it a few hours earlier.
“We all received some correspondence from Mr. Thompson over the course of the weekend, where he was going in and looking for a renewal of his annual burn permit,” said Coun. Post.
“His ask was perhaps through COVID times, with so many families spending extra time outdoors on their own property, if Town Council would be willing to look at extending that perhaps a little bit earlier in the day to three o’clock, four o’clock, two o’clock – something like that.”
Coun. Post said she’ll work with town staff on the most appropriate solution to bring forward next Monday (March 8).
