Dufferin OPP lay charges after theft of high end perfume from local Shoppers Drug Mart

The Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two suspects as a result of a theft investigation at a Shoppers Drug Mart in the Town of Orangeville.

On April 16, 2021, at approximately 8:06 a.m., Dufferin OPP responded to a shoplifting incident at Shoppers Drug Mart. Police received information that a theft of a large quantity of high-end perfume had just occurred and the two suspects had fled the scene.  

Officers located and arrested two people in connection with the theft, and recovered approximately $4,980 in stolen merchandise. 

As a result, Scott LAWSON, 33 years of age, of Etobicoke, has been charged with

  • Theft Under $5,000.

  Aaron HUGHES, 45 years of age, of Scarborough, has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

 The accused parties will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a future date to answer to their charges.
