The Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is advising residents about the benefits of the “Lock It or Lose It” program during the holiday season in Dufferin County
“With the holiday season in full swing, the Dufferin OPP is reminding residents about the importance of the Lock It or Lose It program. This initiative aims to reduce thefts from vehicles, a common concern during the busy shopping season,” said Dufferin OPP in a press release on Dec. 12.
The Lock It or Lose It program encourages people to take simple but effective steps to protect their vehicles and personal belongings.
By ensuring that vehicles are always locked, valuables are hidden, and purses or bags are kept close, individuals can significantly lower the chances of theft.
The OPP highlighted three key benefits that stem from the Lock It or Lose It program:
“Thefts from vehicles tend to increase during the holiday season, as shoppers leave gifts and other valuables in plain view,” said Dufferin OPP’s press release. “The Lock It or Lose It program aims to minimize this risk, urging the community to take a few extra moments to secure their property.”
Residents and visitors in Dufferin County are encouraged to participate in this initiative to ensure a safer, theft-free holiday season.
