Dufferin ‘Climate’

The “2023 Climate Action in Dufferin Report” states that “Canada has been warming over the past six decades” and “Canada’s rate of warming is almost double the global average.”  Those statements are misleading because the earth’s Mini Ice Age (1280-1880) ended about 150 years ago.

The federal government posts a web site named “yourenvironment.ca.”  Opening the site and choosing “climate” from the upper right corner, one can pick a province or territory and then a municipality to see temperature graphs for over a century. Except for the larger cities, which self-create a rising-temperature “heat island” by growing outward and upward, all graph curves are essentially flat since the Mini Ice Age ended about 1880.

Those graphs being factual, how can the “Climate Action” advocates claim that Canada is heating up?

I favour efforts to improve the environment, but am highly suspicious of anything emanating from the political leadership of the IPCC.

For example, the reason why the polar bear population is increasing has nothing to do with ice cover. The global polar bear hunt was stopped entirely in the mid 1980s, and has since been slightly restored because the rapidly increasing bear population was interfering with human habitation in the North.
