Following on from discussions at a previous Council meeting in July, Mono’s elected officials once again debated whether or not they should add swings to the playground at Fieldstone Parkette.
Director of recreation, Kim Heaton told Council the swing set, comprising four swings would cost approximately $31,695. As the Parkette had come in under budget by $28,868, this would leave $2,827 for the Town to pick up. She suggested that this could be taken from municipal reserves.
Over one half of the cost of the swings, involved the 1008 sq.ft. of rubberized surfacing required beneath the swing area. This is all to meet the CSA standards for municipal swing sets. In addition, Kim responded to Coun. Ralph Manktelow’s question regarding the teeter totter, saying that it had been removed and replaced with a lady bug feature.
Council agreed to proceed with the swing set addition.
