Comfort Keepers, a business that assists seniors living at home, has relocated to Fifth Avenue in Orangeville.

Formerly located at Mono Plaza on Highway 10, business owner Lori Ciappara said the new location is more central and convenient for clients. The fact that the building is also home to a pharmacy and medical centre is also a benefit to those seeking their services.

Comfort Keepers services Orangeville, Caledon, Bolton, Shelburne and Grand Valley areas.

“This is the grand opening of our new office,” Ms. Ciappara said when they cut the ribbon to officially open the new office last Thursday, March 21. “We were in the old location for 15 years. Being in the medical centre is really good for us and it’s more central for our care givers and for our clients too.”

They have 57 personal support workers who assist clients around the region.

“We do in-home care for seniors, but not just seniors,” explained Ms. Ciappara. “We also work with people who have special needs or people who have accidents and need help. We have 57 personal support workers and we do any where from 1000 to 1300 hours every week. Some weeks we do over 600 visits. We also have home support workers. Home support workers are able to go and help with laundry and meal preparation. We help them get to their appointments if the no longer drive. If someone is looking for help they call us and we talk to them and answer questions that they have. We do free in-home assessments. We go into the home and meet the parents – it’s usually the children who call – we meet them and talk to them about what they’re struggling with and what they need help with in order to keep them in their home longer. Some people only need help for a couple of hours in the morning to get their day started and then they get through the day. It’s expensive to go into a retirement home. If people are already in a home that is paid for, this makes sense for them.”

Comfort Keepers is now located at their new office in 14 Fifth Avenue in Orangeville.
