There was a time when the Lincoln brand conjured up an image of an older driver behind the wheel chomping on a cigar and driving a big town car to business meetings around the city.

Well, that old-school Lincoln is gone.

While Lincoln is still a luxury brand class of vehicles they have done some serious updating over the past few years to appeal to wider a demographic.

Blackstock Ford Lincoln held an event on Thursday, November 14, to introduce two new vehicles for 2020.

The seven seat 2020 Lincoln Aviator and the compact five-seat 2020 Lincoln Corsair were unveiled in the dealership showroom.

Invitations were sent out to local Lincoln owners and customers who have had their Lincolns serviced in the Blackstock shop.

The event was catered by Fromage Orangeville.

Both the Aviator and Corsair are sleek looking entries in the luxury SUV market.

“We are revealing the new 2020 Lincoln Aviator and 2020 Lincoln Corsair,” explained Russ Vinskas, Blackstock’s Lincoln Brand Champion. “We have invited many of our clients tonight including sales clients, service clients, almost everyone that owns a Lincoln that buys from us or gets service from us. We walk them around and show them some of the features and benefits and a lot of the styling cues on the new vehicles.

“There’s a lot of new features on the 2020’s. There’s a complete redesign on both of them. The both come with a new heads-up display that projects your speedometer and turn by turn directions right on windshield. It comes with a whole new interior. The Aviator also has an optional four-corner air ride suspension that bows down to you. If you have the key and walk up to your car, not only do the headlights light up the whole vehicle lowers by five centimetres for easier entry. Lincoln has a good history with air-ride suspension. The Corsair is a sub-compact premium SUV. It’s the smallest SUV that we have.”

Both vehicles are brand new on the lot and just arrived in the past couple of weeks as Lincoln released the line-up for 2020.

“These are here now and are part of our inventory,” Mr. Vinskas said.

Lincoln started a new advertising campaign a few years ago targeting younger drivers and it has paid off. With a brand new look and sportier appeal, many younger drivers now see a Lincoln as vehicle they can see themselves driving.

The new campaign was so successful, Lincoln sales went up about 25 per cent.

The Aviator and the Corsair are as practical as they are nice to look at and comfortable to drive.

The event gave Lincoln owners a chance to see what is new for 2020 as well as the opportunity to get inside and see how it feels to be behind the wheel.
