The seventh annual Mayor’s Breakfast for the Arts on September 29 will again kick off Culture Days in the Town of Orangeville as Canada celebrates Culture Days from September 30 to October 2, 2016.
Orangeville’s Arts and Culture Committee is currently seeking nominations for the 2016 arts and culture awards that will be presented at the Mayor’s Breakfast for the Arts.
A simple nomination form is now available online at www.orangeville.ca. Nomination forms are also available at the Information Desk in the Municipal Offices, 87 Broadway. Anyone may complete a nomination form; however the nominee must be a resident of the County of Dufferin.
Nominees will be provided with two complimentary tickets to the breakfast. Tickets are $15 and will be available for purchase in late August. The deadline for submissions is September 7 at 4 p.m.
The arts and culture awards recognize businesses, organizations and individuals who have contributed to arts and culture in Orangeville.
The definition of arts and culture is all encompassing and not only includes the more recognizable forms such as visual, music, dance, film, theatre, written word, but also culinary, design, parades, festivals, community events and much more.
Past recipients are not eligible to be nominated for the same award; however past nominees are eligible to be nominated again.
New this year is the Emerging Artist of the Year award created to capture that category between student artists and established artists. The criteria for each award can be found on the nomination form.
The annual Mayor’s Breakfast for the Arts is a great event with wonderful food and entertainment with the presentation of the arts and culture awards as the highlight.
Please submit a nomination for a business, organization or individual deserving recognition for contributions to arts and culture in our community and/or forward this email to anyone you think would be interested in completing a nomination.
