What to know for the upcoming Oct. 24 municipal election

The municipal election takes place on Oct. 24, where the mayor, deputy mayor and five councillors will be voted in to sit on a four-year term for the Town of Orangeville.

Advance Voting Dates

In advance of election day, the following advance voting dates are available in Orangeville: Oct. 8, 12,15 and 19. For locations and times on where advance voting takes place visit elections.orangeville.ca

Vote Anywhere

Orangeville residents can vote at any location they find most convenient to them. There are multiple voting locations for advance voting and on election day:

Advance Voting Locations include the Alder Recreation Centre (275 Alder Street), Best Western Plus Inn and Suites (7 Buena Vista Drive), and Town Hall (87 Broadway)

The Best Western and Alder Recreation Centre can also be voted at on the day of the municipal election – Oct. 24.

Other locations include the Canadian Reformed Church (55 C Line), Christian Reformed Church (50 Blind Line), New Hope Community Church (690 Riddell Road), Orangeville Train Station (49 Town Line), and Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre (6 Northmen Way).

Vote at Home Program

For homebound electors who are not able to attend a voting location due to illness, injury or disability, the Town of Orangeville has a Vote at Home Program where election officials will come to your home to conduct voting. To inquire about this program, please visit elections.orangeville.ca or call the Clerk’s Office at 519-941-0440 ext. 2219 or 2239

Election Statistics

The total population of Orangeville is 30,167, with 10,499 private dwellings. The number of eligible electors is 22,111.

The salaried renumeration for the town’s next mayor is $55,045.77, deputy mayor is $32,765.35, and councillor is $29,619.85, in accordance with the renumeration by-law passed earlier this year.

Election Reminders

Here are a few things to keep in mind as we approach election month:

  • It is recommended that voters bring their Voter Notification Card with them to vote
  • All voters must provide proof of identity and residence with an original document that shows their name and qualifying address
