The Westside Thunder boys hockey team notched another two points and moved up in the standings with a 7-2 win over Centre Dufferin District High School on Thursday, January 8, at the Alder Street arena.
With two games left in the regular season scheduled, the Thunder are in the number seven spot in the division 4 / 10 standings.
The Thunder got an early lead in Thursday’s game with an opening goal from Braden Black.
Coming out for the second period the Thunder took it up a notch keeping Shelburne in their own zone for much of the frame.
By the time the second period was over the Westside squad was leading 4-1 with three more goals from Tony Treatto, Josh Lliwilyen, and Cole Leitch.
The Westside squad sealed the deal in the third period scoring three more times to leave the ice with the win.
The Thunder should be in a fairly decent position going into the playoffs which get underway on February 9,10 with the initial round.
Over all, Orangeville District Secondary School has moved into the top spot in the Division 4/10 standings after another win in Shelburne to increase their undefeated record to ten games.
Centre Wellington District High School slipped into the number two spot with nine wins and one tie after ten games.
Centennial Collegiate Vocational High School from Guelph is in third place.
The Thunder have two more games on the regular season schedule – both road games.
On January 15, they will travel to Erin to take on Erin Disrict High School.
Their final regular season game will be against Our Lady of Lourdes on Wednesday, February 4.
