WATERSLIDES HAVE BECOME major attractions in recent years, albeit mainly in places that rely heavily on tourism. But now we’re about to see urban slides emerging where once we ould have thought it implausible, and if all goes well we’ll witness the installation of one on part of Broadway next July.
As you’ll see elsewhere in this week’s Citizen, the site chosen by 365 Sports is the slope between the town hall and the east Broadway flats, and the date approved by Council is Saturday, July 23.
Our suspicion is that despite the fact that the significant costs involved and the resultant substantial fees for those using the 1,000-foot slide will prevent a lot of people from enjoying it, it will still be a successful venture and one that attracts a lot of visitors to Orangeville.
The novel idea of urban slides is bound to find favour in other places which happen to have slopes into their downtown cores.
