Supports writer’s suggestion of volunteer OPS board members

In response to the letter written by Peter Jovic on November 12th, I have to totally agree that in order to properly represent the citizens of Orangeville; the Orangeville Police Services board should consist of unpaid members in order to improve the future of policing and what is most needed.

This would not only lead to savings within the department itself, and possible lower taxes in the future, but the feed- back/issues/concerns that are important to the Citizens of Orangeville, could be better addressed in the future.

The future of policing should also include education and the rebuilding of trust for many citizens of Orangeville. It is everyone’s right to be treated respectfully, equitably, honestly, and with integrity as well.

I am of the opinion that many times where one could get paid, and there is monetary gain, the interest then lies more in the pay-cheques, and keeping things the same way, and lying less in making a difference, as they will not have the same interest nor passion in doing so.
