A seven-year-old girl has died following a head-on collision on Hwy. 89 in Melanchthon on Friday evening.
Dufferin OPP, firefighters from the Shelburne Fire Department, and paramedics from Dufferin County and Grey County EMS responded to a two-vehicle collision on Hwy. 89, east of County Road 25, shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 22). OPP say the collision involved two sedans that collided head-on.
As a result, a seven-year-old girl was airlifted by Air Ornge to a trauma centre, where she succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the same vehicle was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver and passenger in the second vehicle were also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The OPP Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) team was brought in to investigate the fatal collision. The investigation is continuing and anyone who may have witness the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to contact the Dufferin OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

A GoFundMe page has been started with a $30,000 goal to help cover the cost of the funeral. At the time of print, over $27,000 has been raised.
