Senior AA hockey is underway in Shelburne with the Muskies winning their first home game on Saturday (Oct. 25) night at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex against the Ripley Wolves.
The Muskies got off to a slow start losing their first four games – all on the road – before breaking the slump and notching one in the ‘W’ column.
The Senior AA schedule started on October 4, with the Muskies having their first skate on October 10, against the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks.
That game ended with a 6-1 win in favour of Saugeen Shores.
Game two for the Muskies saw the club travel to Shallow Lake to meet the Crushers and again the Shelburne squad came up short taking a 4-1 loss.
The Elora Rocks were next, on October 18. This time the Muskies were bested by two goals when the had to settle for a 5-3 loss.
A trip to Durham on October 24, ended with the Muskies taking their fourth loss in a row after scoring a single goal against Durham’s five to end the game.
It must have been the pride of being on home ice that gave the Muskies that extra boost when they played their first home game and left with a 7-5 win over Ripley to get the momentum working in their favour.
The game had a good turn-out for opening night with the usual enthusiastic fish supporters in the stands.
The Muskies will be back on home ice this Saturday, November 1, to host the Shallow Lake Crushers.
The puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
