Reminder – West end of Broadway closed for Construction this weekend

August 21, 2015   ·   0 Comments

Commuters who rely on the far west end of Broadway will have to look for an alternate route next weekend. Beginning Saturday, August 22 and 6.p.m, a portion of Broadway will be closed for work on the train tracks which cross the street just past Blind Line, and just before the west-Broadway Tim Hortons.

At Monday evening’s Council meeting, Public Works staff discussed the closure with Orangeville Council, explaining that it will feature both a hard and soft closure to help cause less of a disruption for businesses operating in the affected areas. The soft closure will occur on Broadway from Dawson Road, all the way to C-Line, with a hard closure on each side right before the tracks.

Public Works has confirmed that there will be signage put up prior to and through the closure time period, as well as signs to direct people in the appropriate direction for a detour.

The work is expected to wrap up on Monday, August 24, with Broadway re-opening at noon.

For more information, or for any inquiries regarding the work, you can contact the Public Works department by phone at 519-941-0440 ext. 2250, or email at publicworksinfor@orangeville.ca.
