Just as the Christmas season means a lot of hustle and bustle for all of us, it means the same for the Ontario SPCA’s Orangeville & District Branch as well.
Their Christmas campaigns focus on increasing adoptions throughout the season, as well as loving fur-babies you already have, and engaging them in some of that Holiday Cheer.
On December 4, 5, 6 and 7, they will be hosting their annual Pet and Family Photos with Santa event at Global Pet Foods.
“It’s a fun-filled experience for all involved,” wrote the OSPCA in a press release. “Families can include their furry, feathered, or scaly family members in photos; Santa loves to meet the kids and all their pets too!”
The photo sessions are by appointment, which means no crazy line-ups, allowing participants to plan their day around their time slot.
The event is volunteer-run, and has been held for the last 14 years.
“Over the years many varieties of pets have had their photos with Santa,” the sponsors said in the press release. “From lizards and birds, to rabbits, ferrets, and of course lots of dogs and cats.”
On November 1, they also launched the ‘iAdopt for the Holidays’ pet adoption drive was launched nationally. Running until December 31, the program seeks to increase adoptions across the country, with a goal of seeing 10 percent more animals adopted in Ontario, and placed into loving-forever homes throughout this holiday season.
“With people having time off from work and being home together as a family, the holidays are a great time to welcome a new furry companion into your home,” said Carol Hulcoop, the local branch manager. “Visit the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Branch to take part in iAdopt for the Holidays.”
Throughout the month of November, cat adoption fees are reduced to $99 in Orangeville. The OSPCA encourages everyone interested in adopting to take their Meet Your Match adopter survey before coming in to the shelter, to help them better find the perfect pet that suits them the best.
For some, the Santa Photos at Global Pet Foods will be a great way to welcome their new friend to the family, and celebrate the season with them.
The photo package is $30, and will include two 4×6 and one 5×7 print, with additional photos and cards capable of being ordered, ready in time for holiday gift giving. Proceeds from the event will be used to help the OSPCA continue their work caring for animals at the shelter, and the cost of spaying and neutering adoption animals.
