Internet sensation, Jessii Vee, greeted fans at her store, Peculiar Place in Orangeville, on Saturday, Aug. 5, and asked that fans bring a food item to the event as a donation for the Orangeville Food Bank.

Jessii Vee hosts a Youtube show and has a presence on other social media with a following of over 8 million faithful viewers. When she does a meet and greet with fans, they are thrilled and turn out in droves to meet her, take a photo, and get an autograph.

The store has become wildly popular and ships all over the world.

“Jessii hosts meet and greets every so often at the store and hundreds of people show up,” explained Niki Vammus, Chief Operating Officer of Jessie Vee Inc. “People arrive in Orangeville to see her, and they end up going all over town, having lunch and things like that. It’s nice that they are coming to Orangeville to see her and also see the town. We used to sell tickets to these types of events, but then we thought we would feel better about doing things like asking fans to bring a food item rather than buying tickets.”

Some fans travel quite a distance to meet her. At this event, one family travelled all the way from Labrador because their daughter was such a big fan.

Jessii’s Youtube channel is updated on a regular basis, and she uploads videos on a wide variety of subjects. One thing parents like is her shows all have family-friendly content. As many of her viewers are quite young, parents appreciate the fact that they know their kids can watch the show and all the content is age appropriate.

Jessie’s slogan for her channel is, “embrace your weird side because normal is boring.”

“She really likes to lift up the kids that don’t fit in,” Niki said. “The reason parents like coming here is because of the message Jessii brings to them.”

The Peculiar Store has Jessii’s brand, and the products are described as ‘peculiar, whimsical, and magical.’

“Her stuff is just fun, and it’s branded for families,” Niki explained. “The store carries something for everyone and it’s very gift oriented. She’s a good person and she gives back. At the meet and greets we have a lot of families, and that includes mom and dad and even grandparents. We’ve had people come from all over including the States.”
