Double wins on the road in New Tecumseth
The Orangeville Outlaws posted double wins over the weekend when they travelled to Beeton to take on the TNT Express on Sunday, May 25, at Mel Mitchell Athletic fields.
Bantam division:
Correcton: Last weeks edition reported a Bantam loss, when in fact the score was reversed. The Outlaws Bantams won their opening game 61-0 over the the Toronto Jets.
The Outlaws Bantam team is now at 2-0 after coming out on top in Sunday’s game against the Express and leaving the gridiron with a 56-14 win.
The defending OMFL Bantam champions opened the scoring early in Sunday’s game when Jeriah Valladares scored two touchdowns backed up by a strong offensive line that paved the way with some superb blocking.
Extra points came from Luc St. Germain and Mason Corrie with the converts.
The Outlaws were leading 41-14 at the end of the second half on Tds’ from Valladares and two from Mason, when Mason crossed the goal in the last play of the half.
The O-ville team kicked to start he second half and the Outlaws defence went into action stopping the Express from scoring in the third and fourth quarters.
Two more Outlaws touchdowns sealed the deal and the Bantams left with the win.
The O-ville Bantams will play their first home game of the season this Sunday, (June 1) when they host the Niagara Generals.
The Outlaws will be playing on the main field at Orangeville District Secondary School.
The kick-off is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
Varsity Division:
The Outlaws Varsity division squad claimed their first victory of the season when they left the field with a 13-8 in Sunday’s game against the TNT Express.
After trailing 8-0 early in the game, the Outlaws responded with a second quarter touchdown from Connor Reiners when he caught a long pass into the end zone.
Going into the second quarter, the Outlaws made several hard drives and went to the passing game.
They managed to stay in possession with a series of first down plays that provided them with good field position, but they were forced to punt with seconds left in the first half.
A second half TD made all the difference when the Outlaws defence turned out a stellar effort that shut down the Express for the rest of the game to earn the Orangeville team the win.
The Varsity squad is now 1-1 for the season.
The Varsity team will host their first home game this Sunday, (June 1) when they welcome the Niagara Spears to the field at Orangeville District Secondary School.
Game time is 3:00 p.m.
Sunday line-up:
The Outlaws have two more home games on the schedule for this Sunday.
At 9:30 a.m. the Atom division will host the TNT Express.
At 1:00 p.m. the Junior Varsity team will take the field to host the Cambridge Lions.
